Cody Williamson, one of the church's organizers told WFMY News 2 they collected 45,000 pounds of supplies total. This included 35,000 bottles of water, paper goods, and hand sanitizer.

A house on the corner of Hawthorne Dr. and Lindale Dr. in Asheboro was hit by lightning when storms moved through the area on Wednesday.

No one was injured.

The community came together in Asheboro Saturday to raise funds for the Randolph County Honor Guard which needs a new van and money help to continue to serve the area's fallen heroes.

The Honor Guard has served at over 500 military funerals...

A Bowl-A-Thon was held today in Asheboro and all of the money collected will go towards Patti Benedict's double-lung transplant.

A 3-year-old girl is in the hospital after she was shot Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, the girl was shot by another 3-year-old in an Asheboro home on Cameron Circle.

Saturday, April 20 Asheboro will host its third Rugged Maniac Mud Run. 14,000 people are expected to attend the event.

People came together in Asheboro for a candlelight vigil to remember Andrew and Logan Trogdon. They were two little boys who were killed in a mobile home fire last weekend.

The vigil was a community effort to help raise money for the boys' funerals.
