Members of the state's Democratic Party are meeting Saturday to pick new leaders after a poor showing in the 2012 elections.

Biden has visited the state several times as vice president, most recently to attend the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte a few weeks ago.

Rep. U.S. House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio and Mass. Dem. Gov. Deval Patrick are expected in the state to promote their respective candidates.

The first lady is scheduled to hold a rally Tuesday at UNC-Chapel Hill's Carmichael Arena.

President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney are making trips to the state, rallying supporters and securing votes.
