On Sunday, June 9, N.C. State (49-14) beat Rice to go to its first College World Series appearance since 1968.

NC State will play home state rivalry UNC who beat University of South Carolina to head to the World Series. The series is in Nebraska.

Members of the 1963 3-A State Champion Bessemer High School baseball team reunited 50 years after their championship game Saturday.

1963 was also the last year Bessemer High School held classes.
